AN Winter Sale

There’s no doubt that driving in the dark is more dangerous as reported by ROSPA, where 40% of all collisions occur in darkness and 20% of serious accidents on motorways and monotonous roads are caused by drivers falling asleep behind the wheel.

But there are some things you can do to reduce the risks associated with driving at night.

Did you know that you can now purchase specially designed digital driving lenses, complete with a special honeycomb reflection free Glare filter that maximises your visual comfort when driving?

As part of our Winter Sale, we are offering £50 off our Drive Lenses to keep you safe on the road this winter and they include a Glare filter or you can upgrade to a Contrast filter for an additional cost. Click here to find out more!

As well as ensuring that you have the correct spectacles, here’s eight other tips for safe night driving:

  • Turn your headlights on before sunset and keep them on for an hour after sunrise.
  • Use full beam when you need to – but remember to dip your lights if there’s oncoming traffic.
  • Keep your windscreen and windows clean.
  • Take your time.
  • Have your eyes checked regularly.
  • Study the road ahead and watch out for pedestrians and vulnerable road users.
  • If you can, dim your dashboard lights to reduce any reflections.
  • Take regular breaks.

A Recipe For Healthy Eyes

Carrots won’t actually give you the ability to see in the dark, but the nutrients they contain can help you maintain good eye health. Here is a simple recipe to warm you up this winter which will also help improve the health of your eyes.

Carrot Soup

Carrots contain beta carotene which is an antioxidant which creates vitamin A so eating foods with vitamin A will boost your eye’s ability to function in low light.

AN Recipe

Method:

Cook the onion in a pan on a low to medium heat until soft. Then add the potato (it will cook more quickly if you chop it up small) along with the ground coriander. Cook for a few minutes. Then add the carrots and stock, bring to the boil and then turn it down to simmer. Cook for 25 minutes or until the carrots are soft. Then blitz the mixture in a food processor or blender. It’s best if you blend this in two or three batches, to ensure all of the soup is blended.
